ADR Fellowship for Software Professionals and Researchers

This is for those software professionals who are keen to contribute towards the social sector. The fellowship gives the software professionals a chance to contribute towards strengthening democracy and governance in India by using their IT skills. It also provides ample opportunities to participate in various electoral and political campaigns including optional field trips.

Many projects at our organization are majorly dependent on the Information Technology (IT) Platform. We capture information about several electoral processes and other political processes into a web based tool. This makes the dissemination of information on our elected representatives easier. The tool has been created using PHP with a MySQL back end. Some of the major outputs of this tool can be viewed at www.myneta.info and Research and Reports

The candidate should ideally have an 5-8 years of experience in the IT industry to provide Information Technology strategy and services to ensure the implementation of the information system to cater to ADR’s requirements on Political and Electoral Reforms.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities would include one or more of the following:

• Working with various stakeholders to understand and identify requirements.
• Working on detailed product specifications, including designing the rollout plan and training plan.
• Working with the engineering team to deliver product features according to plan and on or ahead of schedule.
• Responsible for overall project planning and execution, gather/facilitate design teams, make recommendations to move forward, prepare master schedules for all projects including collecting user requirements, execution methodologies, milestones, and periodic monitoring including providing post-implementation, application maintenance and technical support whenever needed.
• Prepare documents that include architecture diagrams, data models, and navigation in relation to the design.

The fellowship will involve research, analysis and coordination of activities within the Election Watch and Political Party Watch programs. It may also include coordination of various processes of data collection, analysis and communication with various stakeholders in different parts of the country also.

Main Responsibilities

Participate in managing and implementation of projects at various stages of electoral and political reforms including (not limited to):

• Research and analyze electoral data to produce reports and studies.
• Election Watch: participate in Election Watch activities for the upcoming elections.
• Use the RTI tool to collect relevant data on electoral and political issues.
• Coordinate and contribute to outreach activities including newsletters, press releases, etc.

Duration : 12 Months

Skill Set -

• Very conversant with leading technologies, platforms, and most importantly with PHP & MySQL
• Ability to work with diverse technical and non-technical teams.
• Should be a self-starter, dynamic and a fast decision maker, high entrepreneurial spirit with skills to initiate new solutions to existing problems.
• A minimum experience of 1-2 years of programming in web technologies.
• BTech/MTech or equivalent with 5 - 8years of work experience in IT with atleast 3 years experience in Product Management.
• Prior experience in managing all stages of IT projects from requirement gathering to testing and acceptance.
