Rohtas police was today directed to arrest MLC Hulas Pandey and his four associates in connection with a case registered against them, alleging that they had demanded an extortion money of Rs One crore from a contractor few days back.

District Police Superintendent Vikash Vaibhav told mediapersons here that he had issued order to arrest Mr Pnadey and his four associates on the basis of allegation levelled against them by a contractor D N Singh that they had demanded Rs One crore as extortion money.

''During the preliminary investigation, i found the allegation of Mr Singh against Mr Pandey and his four associates, prima-facie true'' and a case in this connection was registered at town police station, Mr Vaibhav said.

In the FIR, Mr Singh alleged that Mr Pandey alongwith his four associates had come to his residence and demanded Rs One crore as extortion. The MLC had also threatened with dire consequences if failed to pay the extortion, he added.
