JAIPUR: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot did not ask a single question in the Rajasthan state assembly during the whole term of 14th legislative assembly. A report released by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), SR Abhiyan in association with Rajasthan Election Watch in Jaipur on Monday painted a sorry picture for Gehlot. The MLA from Sardarpura, Jodpur, who never misses any opportunity to question Raje government through his social media accounts miserably failed to raise even one in the assembly.

He appeared in the assembly for only 25 days against the total of 139 days of proceedings in 11 sittings. His dismal attendance in the assembly has been under fire from the chief minister Vasundhara Raje who has accused him of being indifferent to the people of his own constituency.

Raje during her Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra in Jodhpur division challenged Gehlot to prove if he had raised any issue of the people of his constituency. TOI called Gehlot’s office twice to be told that he is busy in Delhi attending meetings. He is known for his absence from the assembly when in Opposition. In his tenure, he was rarely seen on some occasions and has never attended full day proceedings.

Nikhil Dey of SR Abhiyan slammed Gehlot for not discharging his responsibility towards the people of his constituency by not participating in a democratic process. “The former chief minister could have contributed in big manner by pointing out the shortcomings of the government and raising issues which were pertinent to the state,” said Dey.

Attendance of CM and 3 others in all 11 sittings in last 5 yrs is ‘zero’:

Jaipur: Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, home minister Gulabchand Kataria, PHED minister Yunus Khan and tribal area development minister Nandlal Meena’s attendance in state assembly in all 11 sittings in the last five years is ‘zero’, claimed Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) report released on Monday. The report compiled by ADR says that they had filed RTI to obtain the performance of MLAs in the legislative assembly. “The information that CM and others had zero attendance was drawn from Rajasthan Assembly. It appears that these leaders may have not registered their attendance,” said Anil Verma, national coordinator of ADR.
