According to the Electoral Rights Commission (ADR) for Democratic Reforms, five regional parties have announced donations of Rs 250.60 crore through election securities in 2020-21. According to the latest ADR report, the total income of 31 regional parties for the financial year 2020-21 was Rs 529.416 crore and their total declared expenditure was Rs 414.028 crore.

During the year, DMK (Rs 218.49 crore), Telugu Desam (Rs 54.769 crore), AIADMK (Rs 42.37 crore), JDU (Rs 24.35 crore), DRS (Rs 22.35 crore) Both parties have spent more. . The total revenue of the top five parties was Rs 434.255 crore, which is 82.03 per cent of the total revenue of political parties, the report said.

Under voluntary contributions, political parties have received donations of Rs.250.60 crore or 47.34 per cent of their revenue through election securities, while other donations and contributions amount to Rs. 126.265 crore or 23.85 per cent. Of the 31 regional parties analyzed, only five announced donations through ballot papers. In the financial year 2020-21, the total revenue of 31 regional parties was Rs. 84.64 crore or 15.99 per cent interest income, the report said.

Out of the 31 parties, the total revenue of 29 parties in the financial year 2019-20 was Rs. 800.26 crore to Rs. 520.492 crore in the financial year 2020-21, a decline of 34.96 per cent. According to the ADR, 17 regional parties have declared that they will not spend a portion of their income in the 2020-21 financial year.

Among the national parties, the BJP’s audit report for the financial year 2020-21 was not available on the ECI website at the time of preparation of this report.
