According to the election rights group Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), five regional parties have announced that they have received donations worth Rs 250.60 crore through electoral bonds in 2020-21.

250.60 crore through Electoral Bonds: According to the report, the total income of the top five parties is Rs 434.255 crore, which is 82.03 percent of the total income of the analyzed political parties. Under voluntary contributions, political parties collected ₹250.60 crore (47.34 percent) of their income from donations through electoral bonds. Whereas other donations and contributions for the financial year 2020-21 were Rs 126.265 crore (23.85 per cent).

29 Decline in the income of the parties: Of the 31 regional parties analysed, only five announced donations through electoral bonds. The report said that out of the total income of 31 regional parties during the financial year 2020-21, Rs 84.64 crore (15.99 per cent) was interest earned. The total income of 29 out of 31 parties declined from Rs 800.26 crore in FY 2019-20 to Rs 520.492 crore in FY 2020-21, a decline of 34.96 per cent.

The ADR said that there are 17 regional parties which have stated that a part of their income is remaining for the financial year 2020-21. According to the ADR report, the audit report of Bharatiya Janata Party among national parties for the financial year 2020-21 was currently not available on the ECI website.

BJP’s assets worth Rs 4847.78 crore in 2019-20: According to the ADR, the BJP declared assets worth Rs 4,847.78 crore in the financial year 2019-20, which is the highest among all political parties. After this, BSP has declared assets of Rs 698.33 crore and Congress Rs 588.16 crore. According to the ADR report in FY 2019-20, the total assets declared by seven national and 44 regional parties during the financial year stood at Rs 6,988.57 crore and Rs 2,129.38 crore, respectively.
