ADR disclosed the amount of donations received by seven national level political parties. These seven parties include BJP, Congress, TMC, NCP, CPI, CPIM, NPP. In the year 2021-22, more than 66 percent of the total revenue of India’s seven national political parties came from electoral bonds and other unknown sources.

Political parties have not mentioned any source of income

According to the ADR report, 66 percent of the total income of these political parties is from unknown sources. Of the money received from unknown sources, Rs 1,811.94 crore was received through election bonds. These political parties have shown income from unknown sources in the annual audit report but have not mentioned the source of the income. As per the current rule, political parties are not bound to disclose the name of a person or organization that has donated less than Rs 20,000 or through electoral bonds to political parties. According to ADR such undisclosed sources include donations through election bonds, sale of coupons, relief funds, petty income, voluntary donations and income from meetings and fronts.

According to this report, in the financial year 2021-22, the BJP has declared an income of Rs 1,161 crore from unknown sources. This income is 53.45 percent of the total income of national parties from unknown sources. According to the ADR report, BJP’s income of Rs 1,011.18 crore is higher than the total income from unknown sources declared by six other national parties of Rs. 149.86 crore is more.
