The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had the second highest income and expenditure among the 31 regional parties analysed in 2021-2022, with its spending accounting for over half of the total income, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

In the financial year 2021-22, the BJD received Rs 307.288 Crore of the total funds (Rs 1213.132 cr) donated to the 36 regional parties in the country.

According to the ADR reports, the DMK reported having the highest income of Rs 318.745 cr, which is 26.27 per cent of the total income of all the parties analysed, followed by the BJD with an income of Rs 307.288 crore (25.33%). The report also revealed that 85.7274 per cent of donations made to the 36 regional parties came from Electoral Bonds which amounted to Rs 1039.987 crore out of Rs 1213.132 crore.

The total declared expenditure of the 36 Regional parties for the FY 2021-22 was Rs 288.146 crore. Top five parties, that have incurred the highest expenditure is SP at Rs 54.017 crore (18.746%), followed by DMK at Rs 35.401 crore (12.286%), AAP at Rs 30.295 crore (10.514%), BJD at Rs 28.63 crore (9.936%) and AIADMK spent Rs 28.436 crore (9.869%) of the total expenditure.
