The ADR report showed that 26 regional political parties received 5,100 donations worth Rs 189.801 crore, both above and below Rs 20,000 during the financial year 2021-22.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has received the highest donation among the regional political parties during the financial year 2021-22, said a report published by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
With a whopping amount of Rs 40.9 crore, the BRS has received the highest donation.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was recently declared a national party, stood at the second spot with Rs 38.24 crore, said the report oublished on Monday.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), which snapped its ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and stitched an alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to retain power in the state, received a donation of Rs 33.25 crore.
According to the ADR report, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) have received total donations of Rs 29.795 crore and Rs 20.01 crore respectively.
The ADR report showed that 26 regional political parties received 5,100 donations worth Rs 189.801 crore, both above and below Rs 20,000 during the financial year 2021-22.
“The top five parties which declared the highest donations in FY 2021-22 are BRS (TRS), AAP, JD(U), SP and YSR Congress Party,” the report said.
While KCR’s party, AAP, SP and YSR Congress declared an increase in donations in comparison with the financial year 2020-21, the JD(U) showed a decrease in donations.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) were the political parties, which did not declared any donation, according to the report.
A total of Rs 189.801 crore was declared in the form of cash donations by the regional parties. The states from where the maximum donations were received are Delhi, Punjab and Karnataka.
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) received the maximum number of donations in cash, the report added.
The ADR, a non-governmental organisation, released the report after evaluating the parties’ declarations submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
