Electoral reforms advocacy group ADR (ADR ReportAccording to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections (UP Election 202225 per cent candidates for the first phase have criminal cases, out of which 12 are accused of crimes against women and six are charged with murder. According to the ADR analysis, out of 615 candidates, 156 (25 per cent) candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves, while 121 (20 per cent) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves. ‘The Association for Democratic Reforms’ (ADR) said it has analyzed the self-affidavits of 615 candidates of political parties and independent candidates from 58 assembly seats in 11 districts of the state. Elections to these seats are to be held on February 10. The ADR said a total of 623 candidates are in the fray and the affidavits of eight of them could not be analyzed as they were not scanned or were incomplete.

SP is at the fore, BJP is also not behind

The ADR said that among major parties, Samajwadi Party (SP) out of 28 candidates, 21 (75 per cent), Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) 17 (59 per cent) out of 29 candidates, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 57 candidates. 29 (51 per cent) out of 58 candidates from Congress, 21 (36 per cent) out of 56 candidates from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), 19 (34 per cent) out of 52 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and eight (15 per cent). Percentage) have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.

The ADR said that among the major parties, 17 (61 per cent) out of 28 candidates from SP, 15 (52 per cent) out of 29 candidates from RLD, 22 (39 per cent) out of 57 candidates from BJP, 58 candidates from Congress 11 (19 per cent), 16 (29 per cent) out of 56 BSP candidates and five (10 per cent) out of 52 AAP candidates have declared “serious criminal cases” against themselves. According to the group, there are also 12 candidates who have declared cases related to “offences against women” and one of them has declared cases related to rape (Section 376 of IPC).

Congress released another list

On the other hand, the Congress on Wednesday released a list of 27 more candidates, including 11 women, for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. This is the seventh list of Congress candidates in the state. Let us inform that Congress has so far declared a total of 346 candidates in Uttar Pradesh, out of which 40 percent tickets have been given to women. According to the seventh list of Congress, Seema Devi has been made a candidate from Sirathu assembly seat in Kaushambi district. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is the BJP candidate in this seat.

Congress has given ticket to Ruhi Arshad from Barabanki and Sharda Jaiswal from Gosainganj. Candidates have been changed on six seats in this list. Dr. Manish Singh Chouhan from Rae Bareli seat, Seema Devi from Sirathu seat, Urmila Patel from Kursi seat, ticket of Jameel Ahmed from Kursi seat, Gori Yadav from Barabanki seat and Ruhi Arshad have been given ticket. Manoj Tiwari has been given ticket from Lucknow East seat. Congress has made Manoj Tiwari its candidate by cutting Pankaj Tiwari’s ticket. Similarly, the party has given ticket to Gajala Chaudhary by cutting the ticket of Vandana Sharma from Bhinga seat.
