The BJP has two candidates, JD (S) also has two while the top position is bagged by an independent candidate, as per the affidavits filed by the candidates 

The Indian political battles cannot be complete without money. And the Karnataka Assembly Elections, which are slated for 10 May this year, too has its fair shares of rich candidates in fray. Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly Elections, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released its Analysis report of Criminal Background, Financial, Education, Gender and other Details of Candidates on Wednesday. 

The analysis has been done on the basis of the affidavits and income details filed by the candidates during their nomination, which includes their movable and immovable assets. 

With total assets of Rs 1633 crore, independent candidate from Chickpet constituency Yousuf Shariff is the richest crorepati in the battlefield. He has movable assets of Rs 85,69,24,388 and immovable assets of Rs 15,47,97,11,050. 

BJP’s N Nagaraju, contesting from Hosakote has movable assets of Rs 5,36,20,50,279 and immovable assets worth Rs 10,73,35,93,834, standing tall at a net worth of Rs 16,09,56,44,113 and coming second. HK Suresh , BJP candidate from Belur, stood at the seventh position, with assets worth Rs 435 crore, or to be more precise, Rs 4,35,30,50,751. 

In terms of crorepati candidates, the Congress party surely takes away a lion’s share as 5 of its candidates feature in the top ten list of richest candidates. Party’s candidate from Kanakpura constituency, DK Shivakumar, has total assets of Rs 14,13,80,02,404, which includes movable assets worth Rs 2,73,41,60,463 and immovable assets worth Rs 11,40,38,41,941. 

Congress candidate from Govindarajanagar, Priyakrishna, stood fourth amongst the top ten candidates. The total assets of this candidate are at Rs 11,56,83,93,089, which includes the movable assets worth Rs 9,35,00,93,089.  

Party’s candidate from Hebbal, Suresh BS, who also is the sitting MLA, has declared total assets worth Rs 6,48,14,94,854 or Rs 648 crore and stands fifth on the list. Shantinagar Candidate of Congress, NA Harris stands sixth with total assets worth Rs 4,39,20,99,180. Deshpande Raghunath, Congress candidate from Haliyal has a net worth of Rs 3,63,21,13,405 and stands on the tenth position. 

The eighth and ninth positions belong to Janata Dal (Secular) candidates from Bommanahalli and Bellary City. K. Narayan Raju has assets worth over Rs 416 Crore, while the candidate from Bellary, Anil H Lad, has declared assets worth Rs 3,80,57,29,648.
