ADR Report On Political Parties Donation: According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), 26 regional parties have received 5,100 donations worth Rs 189.801 crore during the financial year 2021-22. This includes both donations above and below Rs 20,000. AIADMK, Biju Janata Dal, NDPP, SDF, AIFB, PMK and JKNC have declared zero donations for the financial year 2021-22.

The report focuses on donations declared by regional political parties during the financial year 2021-22. The report is based on the data submitted by these parties to the Election Commission. TRS has received maximum donations. The party has received Rs 40.90 crore from 14 donations. After this, there is the place of Aam Aadmi Party, which has announced to get Rs 38.243 crore from 2619 donations. JDU got Rs 33.257 crore which is the third highest among all regional parties.

Five regional parties got 85.46 per cent donations

SP and YSR Congress have declared Rs 29.795 crore and Rs 20.01 crore respectively from donations. About 85.46 percent of the total donations received by regional parties i.e. Rs 162.21 crore have been received by only the top five regional parties. ADR analyzed 33 out of 54 regional parties and only 19 had submitted their reports to the Election Commission within the stipulated time period. Fourteen other regional parties have delayed their submissions ranging from a minimum of two days to 109 days.

Out of the total cash donation of Rs 189.801 crore declared by regional parties during the financial year 2021-22, Rs 7.4 lakh cash was received from 21 charities. This is 0.039 percent of the total donations received by the parties. The maximum donation in cash was declared by IUML which collected a total of Rs 5.55 lakh, followed by KC-M Rs one lakh, PDF Rs 80,000, PPA Rs 5,000 and AAP Rs 120.

AAP received donations of more than 1 crore from abroad

Among all the states, the people of Tamil Nadu donated the maximum amount of Rs 5.55 lakh in cash. After this the people of Arunachal Pradesh gave a total cash donation of Rs 5,000. The address was not mentioned in the total cash donation of Rs 1.80 lakh. Two regional parties (KC-M and PDF) have received such donations in the financial year 2021-22. The ADR report states that the Aam Aadmi Party received around 4.78 per cent or Rs 1.828 crore of total donations above Rs 20,000 from abroad.
