Among the 75 crorepati candidates, 52 have not provided their PAN details while a total of 111 candidates have not revealed their PAN details, the analysis revealed. (PTI)

Three of the 142 candidates contesting the November 25 Mizoram assembly elections have criminal cases against them even as more than half are crorepatis, according to an analysis of candidates' affidavits released by watchdog Association for Democratic Reforms on Saturday.

"The top three candidates with highest declared assets are R. Lalawia of Zoram Nationalist Party from Serlui constituency with declared assets worth Rs.68.69 Crores followed by K Sangthuama of Mizo National Front from Aizawl-West -1 Constituency with assets worth Rs.25.57 Crores and Rinzawna of ZNP from Aizawl-South-2 Constituency with assets worth Rs 12.19 Crores," ADR says.

Zoramchhani of the BJP, who is contesting from the Lengteng constituency, is the poorest candidate with declared assets worth Rs.3800. She is among a dozen candidates with declared assets of less than Rs 1 lakh.

The ADR analysis, released on Saturday, also says 61 (43%) candidates are between 25 and 50 years old while the rest are between 51 and 80 years of age.

As for educational qualification, 68 are graduates or with higher degrees while the rest are 12th passed or below.

Six of the 142 are women candidates, among them one contesting as an independent.
