The asset disclosures for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections show that some of the top candidates prefer to invest their money in real estate and bank deposits and not directly or indirectly in markets.

Data from Association for Democratic Reforms show that the average assets per candidates contesting the polls is Rs 5.83 crore.

About 28% candidates have not filed their Permanent Account Number in their affidavits.

Party-wise, the average assets of the Indian National Congress candidates is the highest, at Rs 54 crore, while that of those from the Bharatiya Janata Party is at Rs 8 crore and the Aam Admi Party, at Rs 3 crore.
