New Delhi: During elections it has been witnessed that candidates use illegal means to lure voters. But the Association for Democratic Reforms and the National Election Watch has now launched an Android app, which could help keep a check on that ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

With the 'election watch reporter' app, any citizen can now report such violations from his phone with just a click of a button.

There are three simple steps:

First select a category the violation fits from a list

Write a brief description

Click the upload button

"If somebody is found distributing alcohol, freebies etc then any citizen of our country, can take a picture of that incident and ADR can always forward it to us," said Election Commissioner HS Brahma.

In the recent Assembly polls held in five states- in Delhi alone- according to data released by the EC, more than 1,600 weapons were confiscated and over 1 crore 30 lakh rupees was seized in cash.

This time the EC hopes that with cooperation of the citizens and apps like these will help keep a check on incidents of model code violations.
