The Centre for International Legal Studies organised an Essay Writing Competition on the theme of “Criminalisation of Politics” at the CMR School of Legal Studies, Bengaluru, on 20th August 2026. The competition was conducted in association with the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), with campus-level coordination facilitated through the ADR Campus Ambassador from the college, Mr Skandan S Iyer.
The competition attracted 23 participants who submitted essays across several sub-themes connected to the criminalisation of politics, including political ethics and governance, the role of the judiciary and the Election Commission of India (ECI) in
safeguarding electoral integrity, the criminal background of elected representatives, and electoral reforms under the Representation of the People Act (RPA).
