Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a 'Jan Sunwai' (public grievance hearing) at her Civil Lines camp office. Gupta suffered injuries to her hand, shoulder and head after the attacker, identified as 41-year-old Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai from Rajkot, attempted to overpower her. He was subdued by security and later booked under attempt to murder and other charges.

Khimjibhai, who has multiple criminal cases against him, came disguised as a complainant, as per police. CCTV footage and videos recovered from his phone suggest he had conducted surveillance of Gupta's residence and office before the incident.

Rekha Gupta was sworn in as the ninth Chief Minister of Delhi on February 20, 2025. She has declared assets worth more than Rs 5.31 crore. According to her election affidavit, her liabilities stand at around Rs 1.20 crore, as revealed the Association for Democratic Reforms and MyNeta.

Her declared wealth has steadily grown over the years. She reported assets of about Rs 1.09 crore in the 2012 Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, Rs 2.59 crore in the 2015 Assembly polls, Rs 4.71 crore in 2020, and Rs 5.20 crore in the 2022 civic elections.

She has declared no commercial property and her residential buildings are valued at over Rs 2 crore. She has declared that her sources of income are: Professional, Share Trading and Interest Income

No Criminal Cases of Rekha Gupta

The 50-year-old legislator from Shalimar Bagh constituency has declared that she has no pending criminal cases against her, according to the Election Commission filings.

Educational Qualification of Rekha Gupta

Gupta holds a law degree (LLB) from Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut. She completed her course in 2022 from IMIRC College of Law in Bhaina, Ghaziabad. As per her affidavit, she is an advocate.

Rekha Gupta 2025 Delhi Election Results

Rekha Gupta won from the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency by over 29,000 votes. She secured 68,200 votes against her nearest rival Bandana Kumari of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who got 38,605 votes, according to data by the Election Commission of India.
