Fatikroy MLA and Minister Sudhanshu Das has seen a sharp rise in his declared assets within a span of five years, according to affidavits submitted to the Election Commission.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, Das declared movable and immovable assets worth Rs. 14,69,926. By the time of the 2023 elections, his total assets had increased to Rs. 77,61,964. This marks a jump of Rs. 63,55,038 in just five years, as per data compiled by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Observers note that while slogans like Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas are projected as inclusive growth, in this case, it appears to have resulted in significant personal growth. Many are now keenly watching what the figures might reveal in the next declaration for the 2028 elections.
Adding another layer to the debate, sources point out that Sudhanshu Das’s brother has already been recognized as one of the state’s highest GST payers, despite reportedly being a holder of a BPL ration card.
The contrasting figures and circumstances have triggered discussions across political and social circles, raising questions on transparency, accountability, and the real beneficiaries of development.
