Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Puducherry Election Watch have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 30 winning candidates in the Puducherry 2026 Assembly Elections.

Criminal Background

Winning Candidates with Criminal Cases: Out of the 30 winning candidates analysed in 2026. 15 (50%) winning candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves. Out of 30 MLAs analysed during Puducherry Assembly elections in 2021, 13 (43%) MLAs had declared criminal cases against themselves.

Winning Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: 8 (27%) winning candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves. Out of 30 MLAs analysed during Puducherry Assembly elections in 2021, 6 (20%) MLAs had declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

Winning Candidates with Declared Cases Related to Murder: 2 winning candidates have declared cases related to murder (IPC Section-302) against themselves.

Winning Candidates with Declared Cases Related to Crime Against Women: 1 winning candidate has declared cases related to crime against women.

Party Wise Winning Candidates with Criminal Cases: 4 (33%) out of 12 winning candidates from ALL INDIA N.R. CONGRESS, 2 (50%) out of 4 winning candidates from BJP, 3 (60%) out of 5 winning candidates from DMK, 1 (50%) out of 2 winning candidates from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, 1 (100%) winning candidates each from INC, AIADMK, Neyam Makkal Kazhagam, Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK) and 1 (33%) out of 3 Independent winning candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.

Party Wise Winning Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: 3 (25%) out of 12 winning candidates from ALL INDIA N.R. CONGRESS, 2 (40%) out of 5 winning candidates from DMK, 1 (50%) out of 2 winning candidates from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, 1 (100%) out of 1 winning candidate from AIADMK and 1 (100%) out of 1 winning candidate from Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.

Financial Background

Crorepati Winning Candidates: Out of the 30 winning candidates analysed, 29 (97%) are crorepatis. Out of 30 MLAs analysed during Puducherry assembly elections 2021, 25 (83%) MLAs were crorepati.

Party-wise crorepati winning candidates: 12 (100%) out of 12 winning candidates from All India N.R. Congress, 5 (100%) out of 5 winning candidates from DMK, 4 (100%) out of 4 winning candidates from BJP, 2 (100%) out of 2 winning candidates from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, 1 (100%) each from INC, AIADMK, Neyam Makkal Kazhagam and Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK) winning candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore. Additionally, 2 (67%) out of 3 Independent winning candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore.

Average Assets: The average of assets per winning candidates in the Puducherry Assembly Elections 2026 is Rs 45.05 Crores. The average of assets per MLA in the Puducherry Assembly Elections 2021 was Rs 9.92 crore.

Education Details of Winning Candidates: 12 (40%) winning candidates have declared their educational qualification between 5th pass and 12th pass while 14 (47%) winning candidates have declared having an educational qualification of graduate and above. 3 winning candidates are Diploma holders and 1 winning candidate has declared himself as illiterate.

Age Details of Winning Candidates: : 3 (10%) winning candidates have declared their age to be between 25 and 40 years while 16 (53%) winning candidates have declared their age to be between 41 and 60 years. There are 11 (37%) winning candidates who have declared their age to be between 61 to 75 years.

Gender Details of Winning Candidates: Out of 30 winning candidates analysed, none are women. In 2021, out of 30 MLAs analysed, only 1 MLA was a woman.
