A non-govt electoral watchdog said that the BJP's share is nearly 55% of the the total income declared by the 8 national parties in financial year 2020-21.

National parties: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM), All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and National People's Party (NPP) are the 8 national parties recognised by the Election Commission (EC).

BJP has highest income: Citing details submitted by the parties before the EC, the statement from Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) said the BJP has shown the highest income amongst the national parties - ₹752Cr during FY 2020-21.

Congress' income: The Congress declared the 2nd highest income of ₹285Cr which forms 20.801% of the total income of the national parties.

Decrease in income: ADR said between FY 2019-20 and 2020-21, the BJP's income decreased by 79.24% from ₹3,623Cr during FY 2019-20 to ₹752Cr during FY 2020-21.

• The income of the Congress decreased by 58.11% from ₹682Cr during FY 2019-20 to ₹285Cr during FY 2020-21
• Between FY 2019-20 and 2020-21, the income of the TMC, NCP, BSP, CPI and NPP decreased by 48.20%, 59.19%, 9.94%, 67.65% and 62.91%, respectively

Expenditure of each party: The maximum expenditure for the BJP has been towards election and general propaganda - ₹421.014 Cr, followed by expenses towards administrative costs, which were ₹145Cr.

• The maximum expenditure for Congress has been towards election expenditure which amounted to ₹91Cr followed by expenses towards administration at ₹88Cr
• The Trinamool Congress spent the maximum of ₹90Cr on election expenditure, followed by expenditure of ₹3.96Cr on administrative and general expenses
