The BJD became rich during its rule in Odisha, but the common people became poor, due to which they had to move out of the state to work as labourers, the BJP on Sunday demanded a white paper on migration.
Citing an ADR report that showed the BJD registered the second highest income among regional parties at Rs 307 crore, BJP general secretary Lekhashree Samantasinghar said the state’s ruling party has become rich, but the people of the state has been made poor during its 23 years. years of rule.
He said that Odisha is a rich state as it has vast mineral deposits and natural resources, but the local people were not engaged to unlock the potential of these resources.
Noting that people from Odisha are forced to migrate to different states in search of work, Samantasinghar claimed that at least 10 migrant laborers have died under unusual circumstances in the last three months.
“The ruling party and the state government are insensitive to the plight of the migrant labourers,” he alleged.
He alleged that the state government was deliberately not maintaining records of migrant workers.
According to the report released on Saturday, BJD’s income has recorded the highest increase of Rs 233.941 crore.
BJD vice-president Debi Mishra said it was a sign of transparency.
He said that currently money plays a big role in election campaign and it is often alleged that political parties are spending money in a wrong way but BJD is transparent in this way.
Ten regional parties including DMK, BJD, YSR Congress, JDU and AAP have announced to receive donations worth Rs 852.88 crore through electoral bonds in 2021-22. The ADR said the DMK, which is currently in power in Tamil Nadu, registered the highest income of Rs 318 crore.
