A fresh report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) suggests that the Bharatiya Janata Party has received a maximum donation of Rs 915.596 crore, which forms 94 per cent of the total donations to the party above Rs 20,000 in the financial year 2016-17 and 2017-18.

The Congress has declared a donation of Rs 55.36 crore from various corporate and business houses, which forms 81 per cent of the total donations to the party above Rs 20,000.

Total donations to national parties:

a) In Financial Year 2016-17 and 2017-18, the six national parties received a total of Rs 1059.25 crore through voluntary contributions above Rs 20,000 out of which 93 per cent or Rs 985.18 crore was from corporate or business houses alone.

b) The BJP has received the maximum donations of Rs 915.596 crore, which forms 94 per cent of the total donations to the party above Rs 20,000 in FY 2016-17 and 2017-18.

c) The Congress has declared a donation of Rs 55.36 crore from various corporate and business houses, which forms 81 per cent of the total donations to the party above Rs 20,000.

d) The Communist Party of India has received the least amount of donations from the corporate sector, receiving a total of only Rs 4 lakhs from seven donations.

e) The Bahujan Samaj Party has stated that the party received no donations above Rs 20,000 from any donor in FY 2016-17 and 2017-18.

76 donations worth 2.59 crore don't have PAN details.

98 per cent of donations without PAN and address details worth Rs 2.50 crore belong to the BJP

Sectors with top donations to National Parties

a) Between the financial year 2016-17 and 2017-18, electoral trusts were the biggest donors to the national parties, contributing a total amount of Rs 488.42 crore.

b) Real Estate sector was the second highest overall contributor in the financial year 2016-17, contributing a total amount of Rs 49.94 crore.

While in the financial year 2017-18, the manufacturing sector was the second highest overall contributor with Rs 74.744 crore.

c) Between the financial year 2016-17 and 2017-18, the BJP and the INC received the maximum contributions from electoral trusts.

BJP received the highest, Rs 458.02 crore, followed by the Congress with Rs 29.40 crore
