The final electoral roll for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, released on January 23, indicates an increase in the number of young voters in several states. Retired Major General Anil Verma, from the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), emphasised the need for the government to implement voting policies that are both accessible and focused on the youth.

Verma asserted that merely celebrating the status of the world's largest democracy is insufficient; there is a necessity to enact policies that prioritise the youth and provide them with increased opportunities.

He also urged the government to address the inclusion of young migrant voters in the electoral process.
