Chennai, May 11: There are three four candidates contesting the Tamil Nadu elections who have assets ranging between Rs 17 crore to Rs 11 crore and have not declared their income tax details. These details cropped up in a report prepared by the Tamil Nadu Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms.

While assessing the affidavits of 997 candidates from major parties contesting the polls, it was found that four persons who held assets worth over Rs 11 crore had not declared their Income Tax Details.

IT details not declared:

Muthuvenkateshwaran K G, a DMDK candidate contesting the elections from the Kangayam constituency has assets worth Rs 17,43,11,932. While the details of his pan card is available, he is not filed his Income Tax Returns. Rajasekar R of the AIDMK has assets worth Rs 12,02,51,405. This candidate contesting from the Neyveli constituency too has not filed his Income Tax Returns. Rajendran R also from the AIDMK has not filed his Income Tax Returns. He is worth Rs 11,86,53,072 and is contesting from the Kurinjipadi constituency. Baskara Sethupathy of the Marumalrchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has assets worth Rs 11,73,88,210. Contesting from the Usilamapatti constituency he too has not filed his Income Tax Returns.

Over all in the Tamil Nadu elections there are 284 or 28 per cent of the candidates who have not declared their Income Tax details, the report also states.

Age and gender details:

The report also states that 537 (54%) candidates have declared their age to be between 25 and 50 years. 458 (46%) candidates have declared their age to be between 51 and 80 years. 2 candidates have declared they are more than 80 years old. 96 (10%) of the 997 major party candidates analysed are women.
