A nation-wide ranking of MPs conducted by Daksh — ADR (Association for Democratic Reforms) on various parameters has ranked the Bangalore North MP D B Chandre Gowda at 43, the Bangalore South MP Ananth Kumar at 139 and the Bangalore Central MP P C Mohan at 237.

The ranking was based on parameters like education, parliament attendance, questions raised, number of cases, committee attendance, funds spent, voter satisfaction and Lok Sabha performance.

Bangalore Political Action Committee (BPAC), which shared the ranking data elicited through a survey, also released information regarding voter priorities and expectations from members of parliament.

The survey found that voters from all the three Bangalore constituencies are concerned about encroachment of public lands and lakes.

Bangalore South emphasised “trustworthiness of MPs” as a major yardstick. They also stressed on need for better roads and schools. Bangalore Central focused on better roads and drinking water as priority issues.

The analysis of MPLADs fund utilization data revealed that Bangalore MPs utilized between Rs 18 to 19 crore out of 25 crore. The funds were used in providing civic amenities like community halls, roads and schools. The three MPs have collectively spent Rs 9 crore in digging borewells to meet water needs.

BPAC also announced that it would hold a debate with Lok Sabha candidates from the three seats in Bangalore over the next few days to enable voters to make an informed choice.
