This Media workshop is organised by Bihar Election watch for the 1st time in order to discuss the role of Media  in important issues pertaining to Electoral & Political Reforms. NEW has just completed the process of election watch in the recently concluded state assembly elections in the states of UP, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur successfully. It was revealed in our findings that 35% of the newly elected MLAs have declared criminal cases against them which is a clear indication that a lot of work still needs to be done in this area.

We believe that media can play a very important role in this field. The media can play a very non-partisan rolein informing the citizens about the contesting candidates, competing political parties and their programmes, and to contribute to help the voters make an informed choice.

This workshop aims to highlight this very issue and sensitize the media on the need for Political Party Reforms and Electoral Reforms to improve governance in Bihar even further.
