According to the analysis released on Wednesday, as many as 103 MPs were reelected in the Lok Sabha elections between 2014 and 2024. The ADR analysed self-sworn affidavits of 102 MPs.

JP’s Satara MP Udayanraje Pratapsinh Maharaj declared the highest increase in assets among re-elected Members of Parliament from 2014 to 2024 — a rise of Rs 162.51 crore from Rs 60.60 crore in 2014 to Rs 223.12 crore in 2024 — a spectacular 268 per cent increase in worth, according to a latest analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the National Election Watch.

According to the analysis released on Wednesday, as many as 103 MPs were reelected in the Lok Sabha elections between 2014 and 2024. The ADR analysed self-sworn affidavits of 102 MPs. Due to the non-availability of the 2019 Lok Sabha affidavit, Devendra Singh alias Bhole Singh — the BJP MP from Akbarpur in Uttar Pradesh — was excluded from the analysis.

Overall, the average asset growth of these 102 re-elected MPs over the decade was around Rs17.36 crore.

There are some other interesting figures as well. The average assets of these 102 re-elected MPs coming from different parties was Rs 15.76 crore in 2014, Rs 24.21 crore in 2019 and Rs 33.13 crores in 2024. Thus the average asset growth of this set between 2014 and 2024 was Rs 17.36 crore—a 110 percent increase

Others in the list of top 10 include Poonamben Hematbhai Maadam, BJP’s Jamnagar MP, whose assets rose by Rs 130.26 crore—from Rs 17.43 crore in 2014 to Rs 147.70 crore in 2024 (747 per cent). She is followed by P.V. Midhun Reddy of the YSR Congress Party from Rajampet, whose assets increased by Rs 124.25 crore—from Rs 22.59 crore in 2014 to Rs 146.85 crore in 2024 (550 per cent).

BJP MPs Hema Malini from Mathura at 57 per cent increase in assets and Rao Inderjit Singh from Gurugram with 385 per cent rank fourth and fifth, respectively on the list. Shiromani Akali Dal’s Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal with 84 per cent increase is at the sixth spot, followed by Shatrughan Sinha (AITC) with 60 per cent, Shrirang Appa Chandu Barne (Shiv Sena) with 98 per cent, Nishikant Dubey (BJP) with 380 per cent, and Supriya Sule (NCP) with 46 per cent increase in assets in this decade.

According to ADR, which compared figures from affidavits filed in the latest election and compared with disclosures in previous polls, party-wise, the assets of the BJP’s 65 reelected MPs increased by an average of Rs 16.9 crore, marking a rise of 108 per cent.

Congress’ eight reelected MPs reported an average increase in assets of Rs 6.99 crore (135 per cent) while the 11 re-elected MPs from the All India Trinamool Congress reported an average asset increase of Rs 13.63 crore, or 86 per cent. Overall, these 102 MPs cutting across the party lines together reported an average of 110 per cent increase in assets.
